Like I said, I really didn’t want to debate this one, mainly because I don’t have the evidence and I don’t have the facts and I didn’t do the research. I mainly thought it was cool that scientific theory was stating that it is more likely that there was an intelligent designer, not necessarily my God, than that we are here by chance.
But since you asked, I’ll share a bit of what I learned… The percentage is based upon the 322 things that have to be exactly perfect for our world to sustain life. The distance from the sun, for instance. If we were closer we’d burn, father we’d freeze. If we didn’t have seasons, a moon, volcanic activity, correct percentage of helium, correct percentage of oxygen, correct percentage of salt (3.4 same as amount in our bodies) in our water, etc. If these 322 things weren’t perfect the Earth wouldn’t be able to sustain life. The percentage of these things lining up by chance is 0.(insert 304 zeros)1%.
Look, my belief is that there is a God who created us and loves us so much he sent his son to die for us (p.s. if you wanna debate that one first check out John 10:10-the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly-give credit to pain where it’s due. And no one’s going to talk me out of my faith. Additionally, I don’t think that being a Christian makes anyone void of intelligence, but it’s okay if you think I’m an idiot. There are as many idiot Christians as intelligent ones and as many idiot atheists as intelligent ones, so I don’t mind as long as I’m right with God) and I, as a Christian AND a scientist, thought it was really awesome that other non-Christian scientists came up with this factual information without needing to prove God’s existence.
AND I thought it was really cool that Christians weren’t teaching against facts and against evolution. Having faith doesn’t mean a person is void of intelligence, but that they could use knowledge as evidence in confirming faith. Thought faith is believing without seeing, it’s always cool when you get a bit of evidence.
Sorry I didn’t answer sooner. I was cooking :)
think you’ve mistaken on...meaning of what a...theory, it...
love this. I’m...Christian too who’s majoring in astrophysics, so
